‘Football Is In My Blood… I Can Never Get Tired Of It’ – Rufai

Four days ago, bereaved Peter Rufai was lying critically ill at a Lagos hospital. Now he is at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium mentoring aspiring budding footballers in a strenous three-day sessions.

Rufai said that though he might have been working against medical advice, football is the tonic he needed to recover from the trauma of the death of his mother and his subsequent hospitalisation.

”When it comes to football, I am never tired, ” he said.

”What I have been doing since my discharge from hospital- standing for almost six hours, demonstrating and teaching- is more difficult than what I did between the post in my entire goalkeeping career. So I know with football, I have my life back. It’s in my blood. I can go back from here to mourn my mum,” he said.
