Don Jazzy Is A Great Man – Tiwa Savage

The rumor mills will not stop over her alleged romance with foremost producer and label boss Don Jazzy, who has also had cause to come out to dispel such stories and the MAVIN first lady in this almost bare-it-all interview, has added her voice to quell the rumors once and for all. Tiwa Savage also speaks on a range of issues.

The Collabo That Set The Rumor Mill Going

Since moving back to Nigeria about two years ago, the ebony skinned singer has gone on to cement her place as one of the best female singers in the country with such scintillating singles as “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me Love Me” among others and in the process, earned a cult-like following. This is coming as no surprise as the 32 year old singer and song writer has done back up for internationally recognised artistes such as Sting, Mary J blige, Destiny’s Child, Black Eyed Peas and Kelly Clarkson among others.

On her perception of other talented female singers in the country, Tiwa Savage sees them as complementary and not a threat as according to her, “If anything, we even need more female musicians. There are not enough of us. I am actually in awe of many of them: Omawumi, Waje, Asa, Eva are all doing great things in music. Many powerful women have paved the way for someone like me and the truth is there are amazing female artistes that are relentless in their efforts to build the female presence in the music industry. We are working so hard to make sure we close the gap in such a male dominated industry.”

Tiwa Savage

Perhaps by far the most spinned rumor about Tiwa is her alleged romance with MAVIN head honcho Don Jazzy. Laughing it off, she says, “The rumours are false. Don Jazzy and I have always been friends. He helped me out from the beginning, even before Mavin Records. I have always and will always look up to him. He is a great man and I appreciate his talent so much. He also has a really good heart.”

With Fellow Label Mates And Don Jazzy

Despite not having a studio album to her credit yet, Tiwa Savage has continued to be a force to reckon with and her face adorns the posters of most top notch shows across the country. This Face of Pepsi says about her highly anticipated album: “The album will be out very soon and apart from my usual style, I am experimenting with some different sounds too. I think listeners will be pleasantly surprised. I was happy that “O Ma Ga” was well received because it was a departure from my typical style. I am not necessarily pushing for an international collaboration right now as I feel when the time is right it will happen. I would love to do a collaboration with Brandy though; she is my all-time favourite.”

This Sony ATV song writer will be leading other stars to thrill fun seekers in Ibadan as the third leg of the 2012 edition of Amstel Malta Show kicks off on 31 August.
