Death Penalty is the Solution to Nigeria’s Corruption Problems – Cleric

A cleric, Prophet (Dr) S. A. Alao (JP), who is the grand patron of the Oyo State chapter of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has pointed out that it is the death penalty that can help ease the spate of corruption in the country. For him, this is the only panacea to mitigate the monster called corruption.

He had made this call at a press conference to signal the commencement of the 6th annual convention and thanksgiving ceremony of the church.

Ironically, the theme of the three-day convention, is: “Judgment Must Begin at the House of God”. The programme will be taking place at the auditorium of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, District Headquarters, Kilometre 139, Iwo Road-Ojoo Express Way, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Acknowledging his idea was a harsh one, Prophet Alao said that enshrining death penalty in the nation’s Criminal Code as it is done in China, was necessary because serious criminal issues deserve serious penalties to serve as a deterrent to others. He then further accused the government of fertilising corruption in the civil service through delay in payment of gratuities and pensions of retired civil servants, making them to engage in corruption to save their future.

  1. Can this ever happen in our democrazy Nigeria? Who amongst our present and immediate past leaders have that moral justification to champion such? Again, our government I.e leadership is made up of 9o% corrupt individuals. Many within for now, make deceptive statements. Who then will champion and how many others will stand by the genuine soluble course including POLICE and JUDICIARY? Well, whatever seems difficult for man REMAINS very EASY for NATURE! One day na one day, monkey…..!

  2. This course may not necessarily be championed by the leaders. The down trodden, who suffer the effect of corruption, have to speak out and refuse to be silenced by any intimidation, until death penalty as punishment for corruption finds its way into the Nigeria Constitution
