The process towards selecting contestants for the MTN Project Fame season 5 took the selectors around 10 major cities in West Africa to get the best. Eventually the 18 finalists got the chance to sing their hearts out last weekend in order to convince the judges to give them a ticket into the highly coveted 15 spaces in the Project Fame academy.
This year’s edition opened with a performance by Monica, winner of Project Fame season 4 who sang her singles Tomorrow and Below to the delight of the audience.
Present at the newly built Ultima Studios (recall that the studio was torched by fire), Lekki were Larry Annette, C.M.O MTN Nigeria, General Manager, Consumer Marketing MTN Nigeria, Kola Oyeyemi and other senior Executives of MTN Nigeria.
Each contestant came out one after the other determined to sing their way into the Academy, as they displayed their very best in all of their performances. Christian Adeyefa began the contest with Craig David’s all time song Unbelievable, followed by Grace Mark who sang Always Love You by Whitney Houston; Sonia Obi did Natural Woman by Aretha Franklyn.
Daniel from Sierra Leone, Roland from Ilorin and Anthony from Lagos bowed out of Project Fame season 5 stage leaving the race to the other 15 contestants who for the next 10 weeks will face the faculty in the academy, battling their way to fame and fortune.
