Ibori’s Mistress Regains Freedom

She is said to have since returned to Nigeria and was in fact reported to have been recently spotted in Abuja. For those who are familiar with the case of the “Iboris”, Udoamaka Okoronkwo-Onuigbo is the mistress of the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, who was not so long ago sentenced to 13 years in the UK after having been found guilty of money laundering and other offences.

Udoamaka, however, got her own sentence much earlier than Ibori. She was tried alongside Ibori’s sister, Christine Ibori-Ibie, found guilty of money laundering and mortgage fraud and was sentenced to five years by Judge Christopher Hardy of a Southwark London Crown Court as far back as June 7, 2010.

The two women were convicted of handling moneys gotten from criminal transactions on behalf of Ibori while he was governor of Delta State. However, their sentences were to be served concurrently. Hence, two years later, Udoamaka has regained her freedom.

She was reported to have been released in May, 2012.

  1. These type of animals are not to be welcome in this country anymore if we have government here. They are to be sent to exile even if they are freed from jail. Because they are the nation’s enemies. You can take a man out of military, but u cannot take military out of a man. Or better still, stone them to death since our judicial system is not functioning.
