Anambra South Stakeholders Endorse Uba For 2014 Guber Polls

AS politicians strategize for the 2014 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, stakeholders in the seven council areas  of  Anambra South Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Andy Uba to contest for the 2014 governorship election in the state.

The endorsements were made  during  Uba’s ‘thank you’ tour of Orumba North and Orumba, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Newi South, Ihala, and  Aguata council areas of the state. The stakeholders insisted that his performance so far in the zone has been very impressive.

A statement signed by the stakeholders led by  Uzondu Udenta, Everistus Muoto and Cajetan Udechukwu representing council chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) respectively, said Uba  had  facilitated various developmental projects in the senatorial zone.

“He has donated transformers to many communities, assisted in helping many secure jobs, renovated four secondary schools in each of the seven local governments of the zone among others  within his short period in the senate,” the statement said.

According to them, Anambra State needs his wealth of experience to advance to the next level, as they urged members of the PDP in the two other zones to brace up for the task ahead.
Speaking at Ekwusigo council area, Mr. Onyebuch Offor urged  Uba to ensure that he carried every member of the zone along irrespective of their political parties, saying the entire council area was strongly behind him for 2014. He added that the rerun senatorial election was a mock election of what would happen in 2014.

Uba, however did not comment on the 2014 governorship election, but explained that  he decided to go round the seven council areas which make up the zone to thank them for their support during the rerun polls.

He assured the zone that he will not disappoint them, saying: “If not for your votes, we would not be where we are.  We won because God decided that we should win through your efforts. If we had lost that election, it would have been very difficult for PDP to win any election in Anambra State in future.”
