Kaduna to get 35 Almajiri schools

THE Kaduna State government has identified 35 Quranic schools that could be upgraded to the Almajiri model schools.

Governor Patrick Yakowa said the move would enable his administration to provide functional education to the less privileged pupils who are on the streets.

Yakowa spoke yesterday at the commissioning of the Bilingual Almajiri Boarding Primary School at Marabar Gwanda. He explained that the interest to develop a functional education for the Almajiris in the North was conceived by the Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, when he was governor of Kaduna State.

He said the new initiative had attested to the interest of the Vice President in education, which is a veritable tool for personal and socio-economic and political development and stability.”
