Robbers raid Ajaokuta Steel Complex, Kill 1

Published

on

A gang of heavily armed robbers yesterday raided two banks inside the Ajaokuta Steel Complex in Kogi state, in the process killing one person and injuring several others.

Sources say that the daredevil robbers before on their way to the banks had damaged the nearby police station with grenades while the police men on patrol took to their heels.

Residents say the robbery operation took them by surprise as they ran for safety when heard gunshots .

According to a source, the robbers gained entrance to a UBA branch in the area and blew up the ATM, carting away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Reports say the robbers operated for hours unchallenged and that they also made unsuccessful attempts to rob other banks.

A medical doctor identified as Dr Ameh, was allegedly shot while he was returning home from duty at the company clinic. He was believed to have been hit by stray bullets from the suspects, while they were attempting to rob a branch of Ecobank within the complex.

Mr. Ajayi Okansomi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident saying that the police were able to prevent them from gaining entrance to the banks.

In his words;

“Yes the incident occurred but our men were able to give them a fight. Let us say their attempt was foiled”.

    Why should there be banks in the complex while it is not making any contribution the economy? Government should stop wasting money there, convert the complex to a productive factory or direct the staff to start planting any crops that grow well around that area.

    Those that are criticizin NPF 4 retreatin from RPG n machin gun fire sld join d police force or the army and then face criminals with such weapons because; may be some ppl think that when u become a policeman, u turn to spirit and can then withstand fire from all kinds of weapons.

    Why do they lie to us on media! Haba, it was Boko haram Terrorist attack! My Father stays there. He confirmed that the whole city had been suspicious of the presence of the boko haram and that soldiers had been around the town. These soldiers suspected some people parading the town as terrorists and arrested them. Instantly some group of people came up and said they should release them that they were there neighbors.

    Look at liars! the commissioner of police was there previous night and he sent Armor tank on that fateful day but the boko haramist shot the 4 tyres of the armor tank and they couldn’t come in to prevent the harm! See PRO of police lying to us!

    While the boko haram were coming in the police office on their way (their usual practice) and went into the city. They went to the house of the chairman of CAN Christian Association of Nigeria, fortunately for him he took to his heels with his family into the bush. In Ajaokuta,the churches are located around the same area. They also targeted that area (NOTE: banks were not located around that area) After hunting for the pastors that are in the church area they also killed the Doctor who was on duty(NOTE: Hospital was along the church area.

    It was boko haram, the police were helpless and useless, Nigeria must arise and stand against this bokoharam thing.Our govt even pay them to equip against us!

    I totally agree with you Joy. The federal Gov’t empowered wrong pple through their ‎S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ called CEO/MD or whatever through their poverty alleviation programme ãήϑ other ministries like that. Interestingly, these youths α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ juggernuts who knows nothing other than causing trouble τ̅☺ this country. Gov’t should adequately empower our security agents τ̅☺ match with the current trend in all the indices associated with crime. I do not blame the police men even if they’d run for their dear lives because what they’ve in their hands as weapon α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ considered τ̅☺ be like toys in the eyes of this robbers. I just pray our Gov’t will rise up τ̅☺ their challenges ‎S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ that the poor masses should not perish through the dastardly ãήϑ devilish act of these BH cum Arm robbery.
