The dreaded Islamic sect Boko Haram has come out to say that the sect attacked Baga market in Maiduguri to avenge the arrest of one of their members by traders in the market last Thursday.
The spokesman for the group, Abul Qaqa told journalists on phone that the organized assault on Baga market was because of the “insincerity” shown by the market traders who allegedly assisted security operatives in arresting Boko Haram members.
The Boko Haram spokesman hinted that the group has no regret launching the attacks.
“We succeeded in eliminating all those that contributed to the arrest of our member and whoever plans to do same, should prepare to pay the price.” Abul Qaqa said.
“People should not accuse us of killing anyone who was involved in this incident because we have severally warned the public to desist from conspiring with security agents to thwart our course, as those found wanting will be blacklisted as enemies of Islam and will definitely face the harsh treatment we have been meting out to our targets.” Qaqa added.
Yesterday’s deadly attack on Baga market claimed about 30 lives.
