Truckload Of Weapons Heading For Nigeria Seized In Ghana

A truckload of arms and ammunition believed to be on its way to Nigeria has been intercepted in Ghana. Ghanian security agents arrested five people according to a senior police officer in Accra.

The Tuesday seizure comes with Nigeria hit by mass protests and a national strike over soaring fuel prices as well as spiralling violence blamed on Islamist group Boko Haram.

“The vehicle with Coca Cola inscription was loaded with the consignment which included pump action guns, double-barrel guns and a large quantity of cartridges,” Accra Regional Police Commander Rose Bio Atinga told AFP.

Police, acting on a tipoff, arrested two Nigerians and three Ghanaians.

“After a check was conducted, we realise that the vehicle with a (Nigerian) registration number, was loaded with ammunition covered by a metal plate,” said Atinga.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that the consignment was on its way to Nigeria,” she said.

Ghana and Nigeria — two west African countries — are linked by road, by sea and by air.

  1. If does ammunation could have pass Ghana, Togo and Benin, hadly can the Nigerian police see it. Does people should be seriousely interogate to whom this goods belong to in Nigeria. Nigerian as a nation state only curruption and no development.

  2. Are the police, immigration and customs working at our borders. Why is our borders so weak. This is how we hace illigal aliens all over the Country which is not so in other countries. Curruption? where do we start the fight from?

  3. kudos to Ghanian administration 4 their security alert bcuz i knw 4sure dat if it would hav been dat they passed there, notin would hav obstruct them 4rm enterin d country. Such a weak country a country dat any man can do his worst and stil get away wit it..Nonsense

  4. Well, its commendable that it was intercepted. we thank God for that. this pictures are definitely representational of actual seizure. now that they’ve seized the arms, when are we going to be told the persons or group of persons that imported or should i say tried to import them into the country???? abi now?

  5. The insecurity in Nigeria today is only a result of failed government and corruption. By the way stop asking god to intervene. We are talking politics and natural security I have no idea what god has to do with that. Nigerians must rise up and be heard. No god is going to change anything for you. Nigeria is one of the most religious country on earth in case you don’t know that yet.
Every Nigerian must accept they have a part to play to turn this country around and define how we want our leaders to act. That is the only way. If you are waiting for a messiah to come and just wave some magic wand and bingo we are living in a new Nigeria well dream on. I am now 40. No electricity in all those years, my father passed through it too and so did his father ….. I would have thought we know at least by now that it is always up to the people to make a change and not some spiritual power. I hope we do wake up soon so our own children at least have a better place to live in

  6. Pls, my Broda dat is 40, I’m so sori, I understand ur pnt, yet there is notin no mata au small dt God cannot handle. But it is high time we bgan to do our part, if we ar callin God and folding our arms, notin we happen till eternity.
Pls, I av ds questns to ask; 1. Thank God for Ghanian security, pls wot is happenin to our security evn our borders?, they import bombs and other dangerous weapons thru it, yet no one to stop them.
    2. Who (I MEAN NAMES) ar d pple that were arrestd and who sponsord dem? We want to knw dem.
    3. Where ar d seized weapons now? Do U knw dat most of d times, dos weapons ar bn rturnd to d owners once they can settle dem.

  7. The suspects should be interogated seriously to make sure names of those nigerians who are not army or any security agency that needed weapons are call, their are terrorist their are menance to the society! Some nigeria big fish most be behind this.

  8. This Guns i believe was sopose to be used against Muslims To avenge what bokuharam has been doing to innocent people. MUSLIM LEADERS Stop bokuharam or more muslims wil pay 4 what they are doing. Imagine 80,000 guns, That would hav been 80,000 people with one gun each against muslims. This people are very very angry with wat bokuharam has done to ther people

  9. Just to comment on the whole God issue comments that has risen from my previous one. We are in crises. Nigeria has more than double UK police force. The UK police do their job without dragging God into it and it is effective. Now lets be clear. I am not saying there is no God but if you have a billion dollar company and appoint a manager to run it, after 5years in operation you have lost half your enterprise. So your business is now only worth 500M dollars. You know you should be making profit but the manager is running your business to ground. It would be very stupid to go into a church, mosque or a witch doc to invoke the power of God to turn things around. What you must do though is let the manager know his failings and if no progress change him. Simple. This is why people are fired or sacked from work and this is the reason why companies and other successful countries are striving. Accountability as a minimum.
Now moving up the ladder, Don’t you think it is crazy for the president to tell the people by God’s grace we will construct some roads? Hello there is the money there. Use it to construct the roads. We do not need God to construct it. Until we as a people leave God out of this and hold our leaders to account we are doomed.
Just when was the last time did any Nigerian leaving in UK heard any politician there asking God’s help to do their job.
Every single politician in Nigeria just happen to be religious, I mean really religious. That goes for Christian/Muslim but then we have one of the most corrupt state in the world. The politicians are using God as a tool to get rich and get away with atrocities. To close this comment even if you will crucify me for saying this but it is well known that people suffering are people looking for religion. They need miracles. This is very evident as the most religious countries on Earth just happen to be the poorest not by their resources but by politics.
I am a religious man but I am not stupid. If any money is allocated for electricity I want to see electricity and the last thing I want to hear is God help us get electricity when the money is already there. 99 out of 100 cases where God is dragged into it the project will never happen not because God stopped it from happening but because the person responsible from start never believed in themselves and will end up with the money in their bank. So I say when you pay for something or money is allocated for something, you need result without dragging God into it. Manna will not fall from heaven and have our road, water, electricity etc fixed. Also there will not be a miracle man sent by God to sort out our mess. God bless us with a resource rich country it is our job to either demand how we want to use it or wait till the end of time for God to actually come down and just sort things out. Please people lets wake up
