Boko Haram denies killing civilians in Kano bombings

The leader of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram had denied killing civilians in last week’s assault in Kano.

In a message posted on YouTube, The Boko haram leader, Abubakar Shekau blamed the deaths of “innocent civilians” on the security forces.

About 185 people died in the Kano bombings and gun attacks.

In his 40 minute audio message, Abubakar Shekau also threatened to carry out a bombing campaign against Nigeria’s secondary schools and universities – unless security forces stopped what he claimed was a series of recent attacks on Islamic schools or madrassas in the northern town of Maiduguri. The still picture posted on YouTube shows Mr Shekau dressed in a black turban and a white gown and bullet- proof vest – holding an AK 47 rifle.

He reiterated claims that the Nigerian government would not be able to stop Boko Haram and demanded the release from prison of all its members.

Boko Haram has acknowledged carrying out attacks on police and other government buildings.

  1. Why is it that whenever the so called boko haram claim respponsibility is always via audio in youtube? If they truly exist why don’t they release videos in nigeria’s native media? Anybody bold enough to carry out these mass murders should be bold enough to be to show himself to the public. Who are we fighting? A myth, a fantasy or our own government?

  4. ASUU CALL OFF. . .U made us stay at home not d Govt. Evry of ur need can’t b met we all know that. THIS IS NIGERIA. U made the students idle and confussed. U people blame politicians but u ar of the same flock. HEARTLESS. All u fight for is ur belly

  5. The easiest way to stop ASUU strike – any strike in NIGERIA is to carry out no work, no pay, no accomodation. The students/public are not aware of any secret agreement ASUU signed with Yar dua govt in 2009. They failed to publish it in any newspaper. How can over 50-65yrs old men and women calling themselves professors hold the youths of Nigeria to ransome while collecting their monthly salary. In a country where avg life expectancy is 45-50yrs retirement age should actually be 55-60yrs – NO MORE. Anything more than 60yrs is over time for exceptional cases. Prof Awuzie should be ashamed of himself. He should be arrested as a terrorist/anarchiest and worst than BOKO HARAM. Warn him to retire or be retired.
