Date Set For Sam Loco’s Burial

The burial date for veteran actor Sam Loco Efe who died on 7th August has been set for October 2011 in Benin City. Samuel Arase Efeimwonkiyekie fondly referred to as Sam Loco died at the age of 66, he was known for his natural humor and wit. His remains which are yet to be transferred from Owerri to Benin and have been deposited in an unnamed mortuary in the city.

Members of the family led by its eldest son, Bismarck Nosakhare  Efe flanked by members of the Actors Guilds of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, disclosed this yesterday at a press conference in Benin City. He said “We choose October date to allow the rain to subside to give my father a befitting burial. We want the public to join in the burial activities.”

Mr. Bismarck Efe who addressed the press for the family said the delay in officially announcing the death of his father was due to police insistence in carrying out post mortem to ascertain the cause of the death and for him to inform the family before informing the general public.

“This loss is all encompassing. It is not only to his immediate family members but also to the movie industry. It is also a loss to those who are often depressed of hopeless because he brought succor to all.”

Regarding the controversy surrounding the number of children sired by his father, Bismarck said  “There are so many conflicting reports about my father’s children. I was amazed at news papers report. My father had six children while alive.”
