Senator-elect for Anambra North Senatorial Zone and former Minister of State for Transport , Prince John Okechukwu Emeka , has called on the 7th Senate not to make the mistake of swearing in Senator Igbeke when it convenes on Monday, except he purges himself of the criminal case of forgery and perjury preferred against him in a Federal High Court Abuja.
He argued that the refusal of the senator to respond to police invitation amounted to gross abuse of office unbecoming of a lawmaker.
Emeka insisted that the 7th Senate will be embarrassed if Igbeke is sworn-in “as eventually he will be convicted of perjury and forgery as charged because the evidence staked against him are overwhelming.”
He said Igbeke’s only game plan now was to be sworn in “so as to swindle the senate of allowances paid to incoming senators.”
In a statement signed by Emeka, he dismissed as tissues of lies and spurious statements being circulated in the press by one Kennedy Ugorji ostensibly working for Igbeke purporting that he Kennedy was his party agent and was compelled to sign the result sheets of the PDP primaries which declared him Prince Emeka a winner among other claims.
His words ‘The whole activities of the primaries were recorded on tape, conducted under public view and monitored by seven INEC Electoral officers of the seven local Government Areas and thereafter they issued a report of the primaries. The police and SSS also monitored the primaries.
“None of the contestants in the primaries had raised any objection as to the outcome besides Igbeke who chose to falsify and forge the result sheet with which he approached a willing Justice Abdul Kafarati of Abuja Federal High Court to obtain his frivolous and unlawful judgment now being contested by us in the court of Appeal.”
