Kidnapping: 65-yr-old, son, 2 others nabbed with arms

UMUAHIA-ABIA State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, yesterday paraded a 65-year-old man,his son and two others for illegal possession of fire arms.

They were also alleged to have attempted kidnapping some unnamed persons.

The suspects were Iwejuo Ehiemere 65; his son Nkemdirim Iwejuo 31; Babangida Onwugbelu 27, and Chigozie Mgbelu.They were arrested at Avor-Umuzor Mgboko in Obingwa local government area of the state while in possession of one locally made gun.

State commandant of the Corps, Mr. Nathaniel Ebong, who paraded the suspects in Umuahia, explained that they were arrested about a month ago, following a tip off given to his rapid response squad. He announced that they would be handed over to the soldiers of Operation Jubilee for further investigation.

“We found out that they have two AK 47 guns with which they operate, but we are still trying to recover the guns without them cooperating, but we are determined to find those deadly guns as soon as possible,” Ebong said.
He explained that his command is working in conjunction with other security agencies.
