Borno State: 13 people killed by Boko Haram members

Yesterday Friday 27th, suspected members of the outlawed extremist sect Boko Haram were said to have attacked the divisional Police Headquarters in Damboa – South of Maiduguri, a commercial bank in Damboa, around 100 km south of Maiduguri and a police barracks in the early hours of the morning.

The assailants were said to have numbered about 70 and are reported to have made use of explosives and assault rifles in the attack which eventually led to the demise of about 13 individuals as confirmed by Police Deputy Superintendent Abba Lawan Kirawa. The Boko Haram have been blamed for almost daily killing in recent months including frequent attacks on policemen, military officers and local leaders.

In a statement to Reuters the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar said “Police and military personnel have mounted a massive manhunt to arrest the more than 70 Boko Haram members believed to be involved in the attacks”.
